Documentary director Tamanna Rahman takes the viewer into the heart of darkness, as she meets genocide survivor Nedžad Avdić and Srebrenica mother Hatidza Mehmedović.
Nedžad was just 17 when the Bosnian Serb murder squads came to Srebrenica in July 1995. They shot him and left the teenager to die. Somehow, he managed to survive and tell his story.
Hatidza lost her husband and two sons in the genocide. With other civilians, she had tried to find protection in the UN base at Potočari, only to find that Ratko Mladić’s troops had taken over and begun days of killing and torture.
