Our Mission

Remembering Srebrenica is a British charitable initiative. We recognise that the UK have achieved a lot towards building a cohesive society, but discrimination, exclusion and the promotion of hatred and extremism still persist. We must play our part, no matter how large or small, to create a better and safer society for all.

We work to achieve this goal by:
Bringing communities together to REMEMBER Srebrenica through organising commemoration events in the UK.
Taking people on our ‘Lesson from Srebrenica’ education visits programme to LEARN lessons from the survivors of the genocide.
Creating Community Champions who PLEDGE to stand up to hatred and intolerance in their communities.
The work of Remembering Srebrenica and all of our Community Champions has a profound impact in the UK in helping to raise awareness of the genocide as well as inspiring people to take action. You can view the impact of our work and the stories behind our incredible statistics below.

Messages of Support

Our Impact

Remembering Srebrenica has 1,450 Community Champions across the UK. Most of these have been delegates on our “Lessons from Srebrenica” programme who have returned to the UK and pledged to educate people about the genocide in Bosnia, using its lessons to build stronger and more cohesive communities. As volunteers, they do amazing work and we are extremely proud of what they achieve. Without them Remembering Srebrenica could not have the impact we do, so we’d like to highlight a few examples of their work.
