We are deeply saddened to hear the news of the death of Sir Gerald Kaufman, MP for Manchester Gorton and a member of Remembering Srebrenica’s North West Regional Board.
Gerald served as one of our North West Regional Board members for over 2 years, during which time he attended several of our North West community action events and was passionate about encouraging communities to come together to commemorate Srebrenica, and raise awareness of the genocide.
The child of Polish-Jewish immigrants, he was a vocal advocate for the rights of minorities and the need for inter-faith dialogue. He will be sorely missed, and our thoughts and condolences are with his family and friends.
Remembering Srebrenica’s North West Regional Chair Elinor Chohan said:
