Community champion, Aisha Mirza, who volunteers at the community project which aims to improve opportunities for people in the local community organised the memorial workshop to create a piece of art work which encapsulated the lessons from Srebrenica.
At the workshop, Aisha helped the young people produce the white petals from outlines of their own hand and write messages of love and peace on each of the petals. These surrounded the green centre which represents hope for the future and participants were encouraged to think about what their hopes for society were and how they could be part of creating a better world.
The artwork was then displayed at different memorial community action events around Manchester and forms the design for the Remembering Srebrenica seasonal greeting card in 2015.
