I saw the site of the Srebrenica Genocide with the Remembering Srebrenica project last year.
Seeing the memorial at Potočari, meeting survivors and hearing the Mothers of Srebrenica talk about their lost loved ones are all experiences that will never leave me.
Through the work of Remembering Srebrenica, the thousands of families affected, the men and boys who lost their lives will never be forgotten in Britain and across the world. Its visits and education programme have inspired hundreds of people to take part in positive social action, teaching tolerance and respect to the next generation and beyond.
Hatred can take hold in any place, at any time, and as we reflect on the anniversary of Srebrenica our thoughts must to turn to how we as individuals and communities can guard against such atrocities from happening ever again.
